saturday already?

And 11 on Saturday night at that?

Long, crazy week. Doesn't even feel like I had a day off [but I did, I did!].
  • Took care of a schizophrenic lady with a neck abscess who said she got it from a "man who is obsessed with her and bit her." Oh goodness.
  • Helped with a total femur replacement. Yes, you read that correctly...the patient now has metal from her hip to her knee in her left leg: hip replacement, metal rod as femur, knee replacement. Stay away from magnets!
  • Was told that my Spanish was pretty good. Accepted the compliment and kept a straight face! My Spanish? Good? AHAHAHAHAAHAHAAA!!
  • Asked who sung a certain song on the Top 40 station at work. When I asked why they expected me to know, was told, "You're the youngest in the room, you should know!" I'm the youngest in the whole damn OR, but that doesn't mean I can tell you who is singing the shit on the radio!
  • Was called "strong like bull.

And now it's time for that long missing segment, Saturday Picks! I've been baaaaaaaad about blogging on even a semi-regular basis. Oops. Here's to trying!

Book: On my day off, I started reading Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Jenn gave it to me for Christmas and I'm finally getting around to reading it. For those well-versed in romantic comedies, yes, it is the book in Serendipity. It tells the story of a man who pledged his undying love to a woman who eventually married someone else. Through all the years, the man kept his love for her, and returns to her life when her husband dies. The book has humor, history, love, and social commentary. I have a feeling that it will become a book that I reread often.

Music Obsession: my Bright Eyes station on Pandora. Last 3 songs: Masterfade by Andrew Bird, President of What? by Death Cab for Cutie, and The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel.

Covet: A new dresser. I can't post a link or pic, because I haven't found it yet. Needs to be: sleek, dark, modern, easy to clean.

peace and love,

m
